The “Officer of the Month” award, now known as the “Jeff Rush Award,” is presented to an officer for his/her outstanding service in the line of duty. The award was named after Jeff Rush, a community leader from Queen Village, who was instrumental in helping to form the early Alliance and “Friends” fundraising efforts.
The officers are nominated by the Commander of the South Street Police Detail after receiving input from fellow officers. The names are presented to the Alliance and a discussion is held resulting in a selection. Some months see no names submitted while other months may include two or more awards.
